VMS ART STUDENTS ROCK IT!!
In October, Ms. Albuck's 6th and 7th grade classes were assigned to work on a holiday card design, motivated by a contest from a local law firm. The students were encouraged to look at the theme "Home for the Holidays" from different perspectives before putting their ideas in visual form. To convey their perception of the theme, they had to incorporate the elements & principles of design, good lettering, and drawing skills. The law firm received well over 300 entrants from 13 South Jersey school districts. "There were so many good ones, we decided to choose five winners instead of one" as originally planned. Of the five winners, three were from Ventnor Middle School: Nick Gomez 7th grade, Jalisa Boswell 6th grade, and Sarajane Hehre 6th grade. The students and their art teacher were recognized at an award ceremony at Gardner's Basin, a big celebration bash with their classmates, a Ventnor Board of Education meeting, and in a number of local magazines and periodicals. In addition, their winning designs were printed and mailed to thousands of clients from the firms' eight regional offices. The submissions from all the schools were on display at the Aquarium, in Atlantic City throughout the month of December. Our student's work can be seen in the showcase outside the art room, 303. Framed posters of their work will soon be on permanent display in the school.
WAY TO GO VENTNOR.....CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!
